Designed by quilter and author Wendy Chow, it covers categories like animals, clothing, food and drinks, outdoors and nature, transportation, and everyday things, giving little ones a wide range of words to learn. It is the second book in a crafty first-words series from Blue Star Press, following a crochet-themed edition.

The book has a sturdy, padded cover and a compact 5 x 6 inch size that fits easily in small hands. At 22 pages, it holds up to repeated handling and chewing, which parents and quilters alike have noted makes it a durable, giftable keepsake, often paired with a handmade baby quilt.

Because the pictures are photographs of quilted fabric blocks rather than a textured or touch-and-feel book, some shoppers have been surprised to find the pages are not actually tactile quilting, just vivid images of it.

Key Features

Brightly colored photos of handmade quilt blocks illustrate each word

Compact size sized for small hands

Sturdy padded cover that won't dissolve when chewed on

Board book format, 22 pages

Words organized into categories: animals, clothing, food/drinks, outdoors and nature, transportation, things

Second book in the crafty first-words series from Blue Star Press

TrustScore

TrustScore is Birch's proprietary rating, from 0 to 100, built from 50+ signals that reflect what actually matters to parents — safety, materials, recalls, certifications and quality.
