Caravan Convertible Crib

The Caravan Crib is solid hardwood throughout — Ash, White Oak, or Black Walnut with no veneers, laminates, or composite materials — and hand-finished with an organic oil/wax that contains no adhesives that off-gas; Consumer Reports repeats the quality claim without testing the wood itself.

The crib is hand-finished with Kalon's organic, plant-based oil/wax, and Modern Nursery's product data states that this oil-wax on the Ash, White Oak and Black Walnut cribs carries SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification for low emissions; no certificate number is published and Kalon's own page does not repeat the certification.

Consumer Reports has lab-tested the Caravan Crib, and its crib safety tests check each crib against the federal safety requirements for cribs; Kalon reports that Consumer Reports recommends it. No children's product certificate or named 16 CFR part is published for the crib itself.

Kalon's record holds one recall, Health Canada's 2023 notice on a single Caravan Crib unit that failed a Canada-specific slat test, remedied with a replacement offer and with no injuries reported; the U.S. CPSC registry returns no entry for the brand.

Consumer Reports has tested the Caravan Crib in its own lab, where crib safety tests check the configuration and dimensions, the hardware and fasteners and the integrity of the mattress support against federal safety requirements, and Kalon reports that Consumer Reports recommends it; the detailed results sit behind a membership wall and Kalon names no ASTM standard itself.

The crib's finish is free from off-gassing and endocrine-disrupting chemicals, and Modern Nursery's product data states its oil-wax finish carries SCS Indoor Advantage Gold certification; that certification covers the finish rather than the finished crib, and no emissions test of the assembled crib is published.

The Caravan Crib is listed as FSC Certified on Kalon's own page and in Modern Nursery's certification data, and Kalon says it works with FSC-certified manufacturers using wood from local, sustainably managed forests; no FSC licence code or named forest region is published.

Kalon names where the Caravan Crib is made — Europe, by independent workshops, with the rest of the collection produced in the United States — and publishes a five-year crib warranty with repair-or-replace terms and a claims route; no independent audit or artifact accompanies these disclosures.

The materials used and the finish are named by species and type, but the disclosure stops at that level — there is no itemized, component-by-component list covering adhesives, hardware or any fire barrier for this specific crib.
