Certifications

    • GOTS Certified Organic

Certified by Global Organic Textile Standard

GOTS certification verifies that a textile product's organic fibre content and its full processing supply chain meet defined organic, environmental and social criteria.

    What it checks

    • Confirms fibres used are certified organic (e.g. cotton, wool, hemp, silk, linen)
    • Checks chemical inputs, wastewater treatment and environmental management during processing
    • Verifies human rights and social due-diligence criteria across the supply chain
    • Requires traceability, annual on-site audits and transaction-based checks at every processing stage

What it does not cover This certification addresses organic fibre content, processing chemicals and supply-chain conditions; it is not a general product safety, flammability, or choking-hazard test.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

    Read the official standard

    • OEKO-TEX Certified

    Certified by OEKO-TEX (Standard 100)

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certifies that every component of a textile item has been lab-tested and found free of harmful substances above set limits.

    What it checks

    • Testing of yarn, fabric, buttons, and other accessories against a list of over 1,000 regulated substances
    • Stricter chemical limits for products with more intensive skin contact, including a dedicated infant/toddler product class
    • Compliance with chemical regulations such as REACH, CPSIA, and the ECHA-SVHC candidate list
    • Annual review of substance limit values and one-year validity per certificate

What it does not cover It tests for chemical residues only and does not certify general product safety features like choking hazards, flammability, or mechanical construction.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

85 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Build Durability 84

The block uses organic cotton twill, velour and corduroy fabrics with a foam inner cube designed to be gentle when dropped, but no test method or long-term wear result is given; a reviewer of a related organic puzzle ball called Wee Gallery products well made and long lasting.

Developmental Claim Honesty 82

The block's claims tie specific features (crinkle fabric, taggies, high-contrast graphics) to sensory and motor-skill development, which is more concrete than pure buzzword marketing, but the brand's broader '20 years of research' and pediatrician-endorsement lines remain unsubstantiated puffery.

Toy Safety Compliance 79

We found no CPC or ASTM F963 citation specific to this soft block, though the brand names CPSIA compliance and phthalate/lead/soluble-metals testing across its catalog generally. Wee Gallery is an identifiable, retail-distributed manufacturer, so non-publication of a per-product CPC is normal industry practice.

Age Grading & Choking Safety 85

The soft block itself carries no explicit numeric age grading on its own page, though sibling activity-pad products in the line are labeled 0+. As an all-fabric block with no small parts described, no cross-source age conflict or missing small-parts warning was found for this item specifically.

Recall History 92

We queried the CPSC recall registry directly and found two past Wee Gallery recalls: a 2021 fast-track wooden puzzle choking recall and a 2024 phthalates recall on a Tummy Time Gallery product, neither of which covers this fabric soft block. Both were voluntary, remedied, and no injuries were reported.

Certification Credibility 88

The block is crafted in a GOTS certified and OEKO-TEX Standard 100 facility, naming both standards for the finished product's manufacturing, but no certificate number is published and the phrasing ties the certification to the facility rather than stating explicit finished-product scope.

Transparency & Support 91

This product discloses the fill materials by type (organic cotton fill vs. OEKO-TEX certified polyester fill vs. polyurethane foam), the exact fabrics used (organic cotton twill, velour, corduroy), and the country of manufacture (India) for this block.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers describe the block as well made, with soft fabric and immaculate construction and sewing.
Reviewers say the high-contrast graphics and textures hold their baby's attention and encourage learning.
Parents mention the block is lightweight and easy for small hands to handle.
One reviewer felt the packaging was not gift-ready, since the toy arrived only in a plastic bag without gift packaging.

We are big fans of Wee Gallery products in our house. In addition to their cute designs, they are well-made. This soft block hits the mark for our newborn. The fabric is soft, the block is lightweight, and the contrast or texture on each side captures our daughter’s attention. She enjoys staring at each panel as well as gently swatting at it to make it roll from one side to another. The size is perfect for entertaining our little one.

I have mixed feelings about this baby toy. The toy itself is extremely well made. The materials used are top notch and the construction and sewing is immaculate. The images are adorable and cleanly depicted. As far as suitability for baby they really hit the mark. The varied textures, sounds, and interactive flaps are a boon to babies development. There is more to it than a simple cloth block. I also appreciate the fact that the fabric is said to be organic. It's nice to not have to worry about chemicals since babies are so oral. I really love this toy. My hesitation or mixed feelings have much to do with the way that the product is presented. I intended to give this as a gift in the future. Unfortunately, it came merely sealed in a plastic bag. There is not product packaging included to make this feel gift ready. It really detracts from the effect. The fact that it is such a special high quality toy is completely lost. Because of this I decided to use the block for my own grandson rather than gift it. He loves it and I am very happy about that, but now I am on the hunt for a gift again. Overall I am still pleased with my order as it is a great toy and just plain adorable. Wouldn't hesitate to buy one again, as long as it was not intended as a gift. With nice packaging this toy would have gotten five stars!

This is a visually stunning toy. I love the graphics. The material is soft and it is easily handled by little hands. This is a great toy!
