The finished mattress is GREENGUARD Gold certified, meaning the assembled product was chamber-tested by UL Solutions against limits for more than 360 VOCs and formaldehyde under the California Department of Public Health Section 01350 method, and it also holds UL's formaldehyde-free validation. Testers who unboxed and used this breathable model reported no odour and no detectable off-gassing, consistent with a build that contains no polyurethane foam, no glues or adhesives and no solvent finishes.

The cotton fabric and the cotton fill are GOTS certified organic — the standard requiring 95%+ certified organic fibre with annual third-party audits across the supply chain — certified through Oregon Tilth, with the whole Ohio factory GOTS certified. The removable breathable cover is different: its three-dimensional lattice and waterproof backing are polyester, outside any organic or infant-class textile certification, so the certification covers the mattress fabric and batting rather than every fabric component a baby lies on, and no GOTS licence number is published for this model.

Independent testers who asked crib-mattress makers to hand over every material — flame retardants, adhesives and waterproofing included — got the complete list from Naturepedic, while several brands in the same request disclosed nothing. Crib mattresses carry a lifetime limited warranty, and the mattresses are handcrafted in the company's own Ohio factory using domestic and imported materials.

Independent testers who requested every material — adhesives, waterproofing and flame retardants included — received the full list, and inspection of this model's own labels put the fill at 41% cotton batting, 40% polyethylene foam and 19% PLA.
