CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

89 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Tableware Material Safety 87

The utensil heads are nylon rather than the clean materials this criterion names (silicone, stainless, glass, solid wood) - a falsifiable, well-disclosed material claim, but scoped to a component material the criterion does not treat as clean.

This represents 20% of the total score.

Decoration & Coating Risk 92

The utensils carry no painted decals or printed decoration on any food-contact surface - the spoon, fork and knife are molded silicone and nylon, stated free of lead and cadmium, removing the decal-based lead vector entirely.

This represents 15% of the total score.

Food-Contact Material Safety 91

The nylon utensil head and silicone handle are each disclosed free of BPA, BPF and BPS (not just BPA-free), along with PVC, lead, cadmium and phthalates - going beyond the bare-BPA-free bar the criterion flags as insufficient.

This represents 15% of the total score.

Heat & Dishwasher Guidance 91

Care guidance is specific and material-differentiated: the utensils are dishwasher-safe but the brand explicitly instructs never to boil, sanitize or microwave them, corroborated across two separate regional pages, rather than presenting microwave-safety as a blanket selling point.

This represents 15% of the total score.

Heat & Wear Behavior 84

The utensils are explicitly excluded from boiling, sanitizing and microwaving despite mat-based products in the same line being marketed as microwave-safe, and annual third-party testing is mentioned with no lab, method or result and no consumer replacement interval is published.

This represents 10% of the total score.

Recall History 95

We queried the complete CPSC recall database (9,969 records, 1973-2026) for this brand by name and found no recall filed against it in any role. A control search confirms the registry covers this product class, so the clean result reflects the brand's history, not a missed search.

This represents 10% of the total score.

Certification Credibility 84

The silicone and nylon in these utensils are disclosed as free of BPA, BPF, BPS, PVC, lead, cadmium and phthalates, but the FDA-approved/CPSC-certified testing claim made for the brand's mats, cups and spoons is never extended to Happy Utensils by name. No lab, standard number or test method is given for the utensils themselves.

This represents 8% of the total score.

Transparency & Support 84

We found only a generic annual third-party testing statement and a loosely worded support promise ('we will do our best to make it right'); the lab name, certificate numbers, and country of manufacture for these utensils are not published anywhere.

This represents 7% of the total score.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers often mention the utensils are easy to clean and hold up well over months of regular use.
Some reviewers are frustrated that the mouthpiece is nylon/plastic rather than fully silicone as they expected, and note it can stain or discolor with certain foods.
A few reviewers report the utensils have rolled off surfaces because an edge isn't flattened, and others noted staining or discoloration after eating certain foods.
Several reviewers feel the set runs a bit large for younger or smaller-handed toddlers around the 24-month mark, while others say it fits their older toddlers well as they size up.
Many customers describe the set as a bit pricey but worth it, citing durability and repeat purchases across their children.

Easy to use my son can hold these easily

The happy utensils are the right size for my grandson’s hands. The material is durable and easy to clean. I do wash them by hand but can put them in your dishwasher, which my daughter loves.

Simple design and good material and size
Tamar G.
This is a great way for my babies to learn how to feed themselves. However, one of the edges needs to be flattened. They roll constantly. We still use them but i’m starting to use other utensils instead.
Kersey G.
I’m a huge fan of EZPZ products, especially because of how thoughtfully they’re designed for not only development, but also for safety. That’s why ultimately I decided to purchase these for my 2 year old, but I’m extremely disappointed that these are made of plastic. The handle is silicone just like the baby version, but the top part is made of plastic. Not only does it feel cheap, but that’s the part that actually goes into my baby’s mouth and it touches the food. It says BPA free, but it does not specify whether the plastic is also free of BPS and BPF which are manufacturer alternatives to BPA that are just as, if not more harmful. I’m on the lookout for a better alternative and hate that I have to look for it from a different company. I feel that EZPZ can do better when it comes to this specific product and I sincerely hope they work to reformulate this set in a way that does not include harmful plastics. Our babies deserve better!
