Kalon is a Los Angeles design studio making contemporary furniture from wood, stone, metal, and natural textiles. Founded in 2007 by Michaele Simmering and Johannes Pauwen, the studio works with small, often family-owned, FSC-certified manufacturers and sourced timber from forests local to its workshops. Pieces are made using a batch-size-one production model, with natural, plant-based oil and wax finishes that let materials patina over time rather than synthetic coatings that seal them. Kalon is known for elemental forms, attention to material integrity, and furniture built to age and last.
