Pacifiers, Clips & Pacifier Buddies

A pacifier is one of several ways to settle a baby. Pair it with a soft lovey or plush toy for comfort during awake time, and a wearable sleep sack for safe, cozy nights.

When teething starts, natural rubber and silicone teethers give sore gums something safe to chew, and a few soft bibs catch the extra drool. If you're breastfeeding, our breastfeeding collection covers pillows, pumps and nipple care. Our soothing and comfort checklist covers the newborn weeks, or browse everything in our feeding collection.

Frequently Asked Questions

When can I give my baby a pacifier?

Offering a pacifier at nap and bedtime is associated with a lower risk of SIDS. If you're breastfeeding, many experts suggest waiting until feeding is well established, often around 3 to 4 weeks. If your baby refuses it, don't force it.

What size pacifier should I buy?

Pacifiers are sized by age: newborn or Size 1 usually covers 0 to 6 months, Size 2 covers around 6 to 18 months, and larger sizes follow. Move up when the current size looks small against your baby's mouth or the shield sits too close to the nose.

Natural rubber or silicone: which is better?

Natural rubber is softer and warmer to the touch, and many babies take to it easily. Silicone is firmer, holds its shape longer and is easier to sterilise. Natural rubber wears out faster and should be replaced more often. Trial packs are a good way to find out which your baby prefers.

What's the difference between orthodontic and round nipples?

An orthodontic nipple is flatter and shaped to sit against the roof of the mouth. A round or cherry-shaped nipple feels the same whichever way up it goes in, which some babies prefer. Both are widely used, so it comes down to what your baby accepts.

Are pacifier clips safe?

Use only clips made for pacifiers, with a short strap. Never attach a pacifier to your baby with ribbon, string, cord or a necklace, and never clip one to a crib, car seat or your baby's clothing during sleep. Remove the clip for naps and bedtime.

How often should I replace a pacifier?

Check pacifiers before every use by pulling gently on the nipple. Replace them every 1 to 2 months, or immediately if you see tears, cracks, stickiness, discoloration or any change in shape. Natural rubber wears more quickly than silicone.

How do I clean a pacifier?

Sterilise before first use, then wash regularly in hot soapy water and rinse well. Don't boil natural rubber or put it in the dishwasher, as heat breaks it down. Never clean a pacifier in your own mouth, and never dip it in honey, sugar or anything sweet: honey isn't safe for babies under 12 months.

When should my child stop using a pacifier?

Many families start limiting pacifier use to sleep times around 6 to 12 months, and stop altogether between 2 and 4 years, when dentists generally advise weaning off to protect developing teeth. Ask your pediatrician or dentist if you're unsure.

Do you offer free shipping and returns on pacifiers?

Yes. Every order ships free with hassle-free returns, and first-time customers get 10% off at checkout, up to a maximum discount of $75. See our shipping and returns pages for details. Pacifiers may be excluded from returns once opened, for hygiene reasons, so check before ordering.
