Frequently Asked Questions

What is a baby footie?

A footie is a full-length one-piece outfit with enclosed feet, usually fastening with a zip or snaps down the front. It keeps your baby covered from neck to toes, so there are no socks to lose, and it works as both daywear and pajamas.

What's the difference between a footie, a sleeper and a romper?

"Footie" and "sleeper" usually mean the same thing: a long one-piece with covered feet. A romper is a one-piece that leaves the feet free, and often the legs or arms too, making it better for warm weather and active crawlers.

Are zipper or snap footies better?

Zipper footies are faster to put on and take off, which makes night-time diaper changes much easier. Some styles have a two-way zip so you can open just the bottom. Snap footies give a slightly more adjustable fit and are a favourite for tiny newborns.

Can my baby sleep in a footie?

Yes, footies make great pajamas. To avoid overheating, dress your baby in no more than one layer more than you'd be comfortable in. On colder nights, add a sleep sack over the footie rather than a loose blanket, which shouldn't be used in a baby's sleep space.

Why do baby footies fit so snugly?

In the US, children's sleepwear above 9 months must either be treated to be flame-resistant or be snug-fitting. Organic cotton footies meet this through a close fit rather than chemical treatments, which is why they're designed to sit close to the body. Choose the correct size rather than sizing up too far for sleep.

What size footie should I buy for a newborn?

Most babies fit Preemie–Newborn or 0–3 months at birth, but many outgrow newborn sizes within a few weeks. Check the brand's size guide using your baby's weight and length, and buy just a few in the smallest size. Use the size filter on this page to shop by age.

How many footies does a baby need?

For the first few months, around 5–7 footies or rompers is a practical starting point, depending on how often you do laundry. Babies can go through several outfits a day, so a couple of spares help.

Do you offer free shipping and returns on baby footies?

Yes. Every order ships free with hassle-free returns, and first-time customers get 10% off at checkout, up to a maximum discount of $75. See our shipping and returns pages for details.
