Key Features

Certifications

    • GOTS Certified Organic

Certified by Global Organic Textile Standard

GOTS certification verifies that a textile product's organic fibre content and its full processing supply chain meet defined organic, environmental and social criteria.

    What it checks

    • Confirms fibres used are certified organic (e.g. cotton, wool, hemp, silk, linen)
    • Checks chemical inputs, wastewater treatment and environmental management during processing
    • Verifies human rights and social due-diligence criteria across the supply chain
    • Requires traceability, annual on-site audits and transaction-based checks at every processing stage

What it does not cover This certification addresses organic fibre content, processing chemicals and supply-chain conditions; it is not a general product safety, flammability, or choking-hazard test.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

    • OEKO-TEX Certified

    Certified by OEKO-TEX (Standard 100)

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certifies that every component of a textile item has been lab-tested and found free of harmful substances above set limits.

    What it checks

    • Testing of yarn, fabric, buttons, and other accessories against a list of over 1,000 regulated substances
    • Stricter chemical limits for products with more intensive skin contact, including a dedicated infant/toddler product class
    • Compliance with chemical regulations such as REACH, CPSIA, and the ECHA-SVHC candidate list
    • Annual review of substance limit values and one-year validity per certificate

What it does not cover It tests for chemical residues only and does not certify general product safety features like choking hazards, flammability, or mechanical construction.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

86 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Sleep-Surface Addition Safety 84

A thickness is published (1.5" for Original, 2" for Maxi/Maxi Tall) and the pad fits the existing bassinet curve, but firmness or flatness compliance with the aftermarket-mattress requirements is not evidenced by any test method or result.

Model-Specific Fit 86

An independent lab confirmed a snug, non-shifting fit against the babybay frame and published exact frame dimensions, but that testing was done on the Classic Wave mattress, not this Organic Coco pad, so its specific fit is not independently verified.

Sleep-Product Compliance 76

The pad names US flammability standards 16 CFR Part 1633 and 16 CFR Part 1632 as met, but this is a mattress accessory rather than the bassinet itself, and no CPC or accredited-lab report for this pad is published to evidence that claim.

Recall History 92

We queried the CPSC recall registry directly and found one closed record for this brand: a 2018 strangulation-hazard recall of Babynest crib bumpers used with a different babybay product line. The brand proactively contacted known purchasers, with no reported injuries or repeat hazard.

Textile & Coating Chemistry 92

The cover and core are named as OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified (certificate 12.0.03346) and GOTS-certified organic cotton, and the pad contains no synthetic waterproof backing, PVC or PFAS finish — natural coir, latex and wool throughout.

Certification Credibility 92

The mattress pad is asserted to carry OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certification with a specific certificate number (12.0.03346) and a GOTS-certified organic cotton cover, both stated for the finished product. No registry lookup was performed to confirm the number resolves.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 87

The natural coconut coir, latex and wool core avoids the polyurethane foam and off-gassing concerns noted for this brand's other mattress line, but that emissions comparison is about a sibling foam product, not testing performed on this coir/latex pad itself.

Hardware Load & Stability 77

This mattress pad carries no casters, conversion hardware or frame components, and no load rating, locking behavior or torque guidance is published for it because none applies to a soft mattress insert.

Transparency & Support 91

The mattress core composition (70% organic coconut coir, 30% Dunlop latex, wrapped in Merino wool) and cover material (100% GOTS-certified organic cotton) are published component-by-component, along with care instructions and a stated warranty offering.

Attachment & Cord Safety 77

The pad lies flat inside the bassinet with no cords, straps or hanging elements, and no cord-length, reach or weight-limit disclosure exists for it because the product has no such parts.

Material Disclosure Depth 91

The core and cover are disclosed layer by layer: 70% organic coconut coir, 30% natural Dunlop latex, wrapped in Merino wool, inside a 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton cover, with thickness and dimensions given for each size.
