Organic Cargo Short

The short is 100% organic cotton interlock, certified to GOTS, with the cotton grown in India and the garment sewn there; the same 100% certified organic cotton composition is repeated by independent retailers and a review outlet, with no conflicting figure anywhere. No certificate number or fibre test report is published to close the loop.

Construction is simple for a mouthing-age child: an elastic waistband with a secured drawstring that meets CPSIA drawstring requirements, two side pockets, a tagless neck finish and no appliqués or decorative snaps. That standard is named and nothing supports it — no small-parts or use-and-abuse test result, and no description of how the drawstring is anchored or how seams are finished.

The dyes on this short are azo-free, and the brand's standard excludes azo dyes that release carcinogenic amine compounds, with the dyes themselves GOTS-certified rather than only the fabric; the base is cotton, not a synthetic requiring disperse dyes. An independent subscription retailer repeats the same azo-dye exclusion. No dye screening report or certificate number is published.

This is not a fibre-only "made with organic cotton" claim: GOTS covers the garment as made — certified cotton, dyes and trims, sewn in GOTS-certified factories — and the certification audits every step from farm to mill to finished garment and packaging. No certificate number is published for the garment.

We queried the complete CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 — and L'ovedbaby appears nowhere in it, in any role, at any date. Control checks in the same corpus returned hundreds of records for children's product classes, so the clean result reflects the brand's absence rather than a query that missed.

GOTS certification is named for the finished garment itself — 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, with GOTS-certified dyes, trims and snaps/zippers, sewn in GOTS-certified factories in India — and the drawstring meets CPSIA requirements. No licence or certificate code is printed alongside these claims, and no lab report accompanies the CPSIA statement.

Nothing here is marketed as easy-care, wrinkle-resistant, non-iron or stain- or water-repellent; care is a plain machine wash warm, tumble dry low, and the garment contains no formaldehyde and no chemical flame retardants, with flammability met by fabric weight alone. The disclosure stops short of the repellent finishes: there is no explicit statement about stain- or water-resistant treatment and no PFAS or formaldehyde test results published.

Care is published specifically and consistently — machine wash warm, tumble dry low — with a detailed explanation that the cotton is cut long to allow for shrinkage in the first machine wash and dry and that line drying preserves length, and retailers carry the same guidance with no conflict. The guidance visibly stops short of the one thing this criterion asks first: there is no instruction to wash the garment before first wear.

Fibre content, dye and trim chemistry, cotton origin (India) and place of manufacture are all published. The individual mills and sewing facilities are not named.

The grommets on this short are chrome-free, lead-free and nickel-free, trims and snaps carry the same no-PVC, no-nickel, no-chrome condition, and the dyes are azo-free with no amine-releasing azo dyes used. The print or decoration method for the alligator design is not named, and no heavy-metal or migration test results are published.
