Cathy the Carrot Mini DouDou Teether

The teething surface is 100% natural rubber from Hevea trees, explicitly free of PVC, BPA, phthalates and nitrosamines, with hand-applied natural pigments. This is a named material with named exclusions, though unverified by an outside lab for this specific product.

This is a two-part design: a removable muslin doudou layer separates from the rubber teether for washing, so it is not the one-piece construction the criterion rewards. Durability claims found for sibling rubber teethers do not address this detachable, multi-piece product.

The teether is named as complying with EN71 parts 1, 2, 3 and 12, plus American ASTM F963-17 and CPSIA, with testing carried out at named labs SGS and Bureau Veritas. This is a named standard, a named test method, and named accredited labs together, though no certificate number or lab report is published for this product.

This teether is graded '0+' with no small-parts warning language, while the brand's own age-shop navigation separately splits babies into 0-6 months and 6-12 months bands elsewhere, leaving the specific fit for this two-piece doudou-teether unmethodical and unresolved.

The rubber teether is molded with no holes and this prevents mold, but independent testing of another Oli & Carol natural-rubber toy found it turned slimy and developed mold despite the same no-holes design, and this product's own care instructions warn mold can appear if left damp.

We queried the CPSC recall database and found no US record for this brand. However, a 2024 EU regulatory notice banned marketing of an Oli & Carol product over nitrosamine chemical release, classified as serious risk, and a 2016-17 Dalmatian teether was recalled for a choking hazard. This is a repeated pattern, not a one-off.

Specific finished-product standards are named — EN71 parts 1, 2, 3 and 12, ASTM F963-17, and CPSIA — and testing occurs at named labs SGS and Bureau Veritas. No certificate number is published, but the combination of named standards and named test labs represents strong certification credibility.

Handcrafted natural-pigment painting and natural rubber material are disclosed, but country of manufacture, warranty terms, and a repair/spare-parts route are not stated; a third-party source separately places manufacturing in Asia.
