Composition is exact and single-fibre — 100% organic cotton, GOTS certified, woven as a lightweight organic cotton denim with no synthetic blend — and provenance is stated: cotton grown in India, garments sewn in India. What is absent is a certificate number tying this specific garment to that organic claim.

The design avoids the main hazards for a mouthing-age child: a sleeveless overall with snaps at the inner legs and brass buckles, tagless against the skin, with no cords or ties at the neck and no appliqués or detachable decorative elements. Snap and buckle retention is another matter — no reinforced-attachment specification, seam construction detail, or pull or use-and-abuse test result is published for this garment.

The dyes on this overall are azo-free and GOTS-certified, with no azo dyes that release carcinogenic amine compounds used anywhere in the line — a specific that an independent subscription-clothing service repeats in its own words. We queried the full CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 — and found no recall filed against L'ovedbaby in any role, at any date. Controls in the same corpus returned hits for comparable juvenile product classes, so the clean result reflects the brand's absence rather than a failed search.

GOTS certification covers the finished garment itself — 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, with GOTS-certified dyes, trims and snaps, sewn in GOTS-certified factories in India — and the consequences are spelled out: no toxic heavy metals, formaldehyde, aromatic solvents or GMO fibre, and no PVC, nickel or chrome in trims. No licence or certificate number is printed, so the claim rests on a named standard rather than a traceable registry entry.

Nothing about this garment is marketed as easy-care, wrinkle-free or non-iron, and formaldehyde is excluded along with aromatic solvents and functional nanoparticles under the GOTS terms it is made to; chemical flame retardants are ruled out as well, with care given simply as machine wash warm and tumble dry low. The disclosure stops short of the second half of this question: water- and stain-repellent treatments and PFAS are not addressed anywhere, in either direction.

Care is published concretely and consistently — machine wash warm, tumble dry low — together with an unusually detailed explanation of first-wash shrinkage, why the garment is cut long, and when to line dry to keep the pre-shrink length, and a retailer's version of that guidance matches with no conflict. There is no instruction to wash the overall before first wear, which is the one piece of this guidance that is missing.

Disclosure is unusually complete for apparel: fibre content at 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton, cotton grown in India and garments sewn there, and chrome-, lead- and nickel-free hardware. The individual factory behind this overall is not named and there is no spare-snap or repair provision.

The hardware is named and its chemistry declared: antique brass snaps at the inner legs and antique brass buckles, all snaps and hardware chrome-free, lead-free and nickel-free, with trims held to GOTS terms that also exclude PVC. The overall carries no screen print and is tagless, so the thick plastisol concern does not arise, and the dyes are azo-free.
