CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

86 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Safe Volume Output 93

An independent tester bought this model alongside three other portable machines and worked with them hands-on, using a decibel meter and setting each to roughly 70 dB โ€” the level recommended for infant sleep โ€” to compare tone and carry across a room. Hatch itself does not publish a maximum output figure in decibels or a crib-distance placement instruction for the Go, and the only other hands-on account of it is a comparative note that the Go plays quieter than the full-size Rest units rather than an instrumented reading.

This represents 26% of the total score.

Electrical & Battery Safety 78

The Go runs on an internal rechargeable battery charged over an included USB-C cable, has no coin cell and no wireless radio of any kind, and it keeps playing while charging overnight. No UL or ETL listing, battery chemistry, cell supplier or charge and thermal test result is published for it.

This represents 12% of the total score.

Sleep-Product Compliance 78

Hatch does not publish a Children's Product Certificate, a CPSC-accepted testing laboratory or any federal children's-product testing statement for the Go, and no compliance mark or standard is named anywhere in its specifications. The unit is sold by an identifiable US company, Hatch Baby, Inc. of Palo Alto, California, rather than an anonymous marketplace importer.

This represents 12% of the total score.

Recall History 91

We queried the full CPSC recall corpus โ€” 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 โ€” and one record names Hatch: a July 2024 voluntary recall of power adapters sold with Rest 1st Generation sound machines, after 19 reports of the adapter housing detaching and two reports of minor electrical shock. Hatch offered free replacement adapters, contacted registered owners directly, published a recall claim route and stopped sourcing from that adapter manufacturer; the Go is battery-powered and was not part of that action.

This represents 10% of the total score.

Certification Credibility 83

The Go's plastics are BPA-free, phthalate-free and PVC-free, and the housing carries an antimicrobial treatment. No certification is named for the finished unit, and no testing laboratory, test method, result or certificate accompanies those material claims.

This represents 8% of the total score.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 78

The Go is a small hard-plastic clip-on unit with no foam and no engineered wood, and its shell is 99% post-consumer recycled plastic with BPA-, phthalate- and PVC-free plastics. No VOC or formaldehyde emissions testing, emissions certification or airing-out guidance is published for the finished unit.

This represents 8% of the total score.

Sleep-Support Claim Honesty 91

Marketing for the Go stays with soothing sounds and naps away from home โ€” ten sounds, a clip ring, all-day battery โ€” and makes no clinical, developmental or sleep-training claim. Hatch also states plainly that its products are not medical devices, are not intended for diagnosing or treating a health problem, and that health questions belong with a doctor. Nothing is cited for why these particular ten sounds were chosen.

This represents 7% of the total score.

Transparency & Support 89

The Go carries a one-year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship, and because it is not app-connected a claim needs proof of purchase with the purchase date. The outer shell is 99% post-consumer recycled plastic, but the country of manufacture, the manufacturing partner and a full component list are not published.

This represents 7% of the total score.

Cord & Placement Safety 84

The Go is cordless in use โ€” a 4.2 oz battery-powered unit with a carry ring made to clip to a stroller, carrier or diaper bag โ€” and the copy positions it next to the travel crib rather than inside it. The length of the USB-C charging cable, an explicit keep-out-of-the-crib instruction and any crib-distance figure are not published, which matters because the unit plays while charging overnight.

This represents 5% of the total score.

Material Disclosure Depth 84

The Go's outer shell is made from 99% post-consumer recycled plastic, and the plastics are BPA-free, phthalate-free and PVC-free with an antimicrobial housing. Detail stops at the shell: the battery chemistry, speaker and adhesive materials, the manufacturing supplier and the country of origin are not published.

This represents 5% of the total score.

Customer Stories

This portable sound machine has become an essential part of our daily routine. It is small, easy to carry, and works beautifully for both naps and bedtime. The ten soothing sounds are clear and relaxing, and I like that the volume can be adjusted smoothly without sudden jumps. We use it at home and also bring it along for car rides or travel. It keeps my baby calm and helps block out background noise so she can rest anywhere. The battery lasts a long time, and the charging process is quick and straightforward. I also appreciate the modern look that fits in with the nursery decor. What stands out most is how easy it is to use. There are no complicated settings or confusing buttons, which is perfect for late nights when I need something that just works. I would recommend this to any parent who wants consistent, peaceful sleep for their child.

The best sound machine! I love the variety of sounds, the compact size, and the ability to take it along when we travel. It doesnโ€™t have as many bells and whistles as other sound machines, but I love the simplicity and the lower price point! We have one in my sonโ€™s room and just got another one for our baby girl who will be here any day. Highly recommend!
Jen
My baby absolutely loves this sound machine! Itโ€™s compact, easy to take anywhere, and the sound quality is excellent. Weโ€™ve been using it for naps and bedtime, and it helps create a calming environment wherever we go. The battery lasts a long time, itโ€™s simple to use, and the portable design makes it perfect for the stroller, car seat, or diaper bag. Definitely one of our favorite baby purchases!
