Key Features

Certifications

    • FSC Certified

    Certified by Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification traces wood and paper-based materials in a product back through the supply chain to forests managed under FSC's standards.

    What it checks

    • Chain of custody tracking of wood/fibre from certified forests through manufacturing
    • Forest management practices checked against FSC standards (100%, Recycled, or Mix sourcing labels)
    • Auditing of certificate holders and monitoring of forest management organizations
    • Traceability tools such as blockchain-based tracking of certified material

What it does not cover This label addresses forest sourcing and traceability of wood/paper materials; it does not test or certify the safety, chemical content, or performance of a finished product.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

85 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Build Durability 85

The boards are thick, sturdy cardstock that holds up well to repeated lacing by toddlers, but a couple of reviews report the cotton laces fraying quickly and one notes the boards are cardboard rather than the wood implied by the materials list.

Developmental Claim Honesty 82

The product ties specific features (lacing, color identification) to skill claims like dexterity and hand-eye coordination, but also leans on unsubstantiated framing like broad pediatrician endorsement with no named source or study.

Toy Safety Compliance 79

We found no published CPC or ASTM F963 citation for this lacing-card set, though Wee Gallery is an identifiable, retail-distributed manufacturer sold through major baby retailers, and other of its lines state general CPSIA testing and compliance language.

Age Grading & Choking Safety 91

The age label is consistent everywhere we checked: 3+ years, with an explicit not-suitable-for-under-3 warning tied to the length of the lacing cords.

Recall History 92

We queried the CPSC recall registry directly (10,016 records, 1973–2026) and found two Wee Gallery recalls: 2021 wooden tray puzzles (choking hazard) and 2024 Tummy Time Gallery (phthalates), both fast-track/voluntary with no injuries reported. Neither recall covers this lacing-cards product line.

Certification Credibility 87

The lacing cards themselves carry only an FSC certification for the paperboard and eco-friendly inks, with no third-party lab report or number. The brand's GOTS and OEKO-TEX claims found elsewhere apply to cotton/fabric goods and a facility, not to this paperboard product.

Transparency & Support 84

The card material (FSC paperboard, eco-friendly inks) is named, but country of manufacture, warranty terms, and any repair or replacement route for this specific product are not published anywhere we found.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers frequently describe the lacing boards as sturdy and well made, with several noting they hold up to repeated use by young children.
Many reviewers say the set keeps children ages 2 to 5 engaged in fine motor practice and consider it a good screen-free travel activity.
A few reviewers mention the cotton laces fraying or the boards seeming thinner than expected, raising some durability concerns.
Some customers note that children under 3 are too young to lace independently, while kids around 4 and up handle it more easily.

Our 2 and 3 year old granddaughters enjoy the cards. They are young and just leaning how to do it. Our 8 year old granddaughter is the expert and shows them how to stitch. Even our 9 year old grandson did one!

Fun for my 3 year old granddaughter. Very good quality. Fast delivery
Linda
Love the consistent quality of this brand but my daughter didn’t seem to engage with it for longer than 5 min 😑
Dani
The designs of the lacing boards are cute. I was expecting them to be wood because under the materials list it says wood. So while it is really cute. I worry about just how sturdy and long they are going to last.
