Key Features

Certifications

    • GOTS Certified Organic

Certified by Global Organic Textile Standard

GOTS certification verifies that a textile product's organic fibre content and its full processing supply chain meet defined organic, environmental and social criteria.

    What it checks

    • Confirms fibres used are certified organic (e.g. cotton, wool, hemp, silk, linen)
    • Checks chemical inputs, wastewater treatment and environmental management during processing
    • Verifies human rights and social due-diligence criteria across the supply chain
    • Requires traceability, annual on-site audits and transaction-based checks at every processing stage

What it does not cover This certification addresses organic fibre content, processing chemicals and supply-chain conditions; it is not a general product safety, flammability, or choking-hazard test.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

    • OEKO-TEX Certified

    Certified by OEKO-TEX (Standard 100)

OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certifies that every component of a textile item has been lab-tested and found free of harmful substances above set limits.

    What it checks

    • Testing of yarn, fabric, buttons, and other accessories against a list of over 1,000 regulated substances
    • Stricter chemical limits for products with more intensive skin contact, including a dedicated infant/toddler product class
    • Compliance with chemical regulations such as REACH, CPSIA, and the ECHA-SVHC candidate list
    • Annual review of substance limit values and one-year validity per certificate

What it does not cover It tests for chemical residues only and does not certify general product safety features like choking hazards, flammability, or mechanical construction.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

84 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Sleep-Surface Addition Safety 76

This cover is marketed for softness and breathability, but its thickness is never stated and nothing says to use it as a single layer over the mattress; independent reviewers separately note the mattress pad is easy to compress.

Model-Specific Fit 85

The cover is named as fitting the babybay Original, but no dimensions are published for the cover or the mattress it wraps, so fit cannot be checked against the frame.

Sleep-Product Compliance 79

The cover's certifications and materials are well documented, but no CPC or federal standard citation is published specifically for this mattress cover accessory as part of the bassinet sleep system.

Recall History 92

We queried the CPSC recall database directly and found one closed record for this brand: a 2018 recall of Babynest crib bumpers for strangulation risk, with no injuries reported. That recall covers a different accessory line, not this mattress cover.

Textile & Coating Chemistry 91

The organic cotton fibre carries a named OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certificate number and GOTS certification for this finished cover, though the item does not separately state it is PVC- or PFAS-free.

Certification Credibility 91

The cover is OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certified with a specific certificate number (12.0.03346), and it is also GOTS-certified organic cotton — both named for this finished item.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 85

The cover itself carries no named emissions certification; the brand's VOC and off-gassing claims relate to the mattress and frame, not this cotton cover, so no method or result speaks to the cover's own emissions.

Hardware Load & Stability 77

The mattress cover is a fitted textile with no frame, caster or load-bearing part, and no load rating, stability testing or hardware guidance is published for it anywhere.

Transparency & Support 85

The cover's fibre content and certifications are disclosed, but country of manufacture and any warranty or repair terms for this accessory are not published anywhere we found.

Attachment & Cord Safety 77

Nothing published addresses cords, straps or hanging weight limits for this cover, and no source describes any hanging or dangling element on it at all.

Material Disclosure Depth 91

The cover is disclosed as 100% GOTS-certified organic cotton with a hidden zipper closure, a specific, component-level material description for this finished item.
