The romper is a one-piece with flutter sleeves and snaps for diaper changes — no neck cords or ties and no detachable decorative appliqués — but nothing is published about snap retention, seam construction or small-parts testing for a mouthing-age child. This is the single gap in an otherwise detailed set of material and chemical disclosures, and there is no review history for this style showing how the snaps hold up in use.

The dyes are azo-free, non-toxic and water-based, the romper is listed explicitly as containing no AZO dyes, and GOTS processing requires non-toxic colourants across the chain. The base fabric is organic cotton rather than a synthetic, so disperse dyes are not in play, and an independent write-up repeats the azo-free dye claim.

We queried the full CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 — and Makemake Organics appears nowhere in it, in any role, at any date. The same corpus returns hundreds of children's-product records for classes like cribs, strollers and toys, so the clean result reflects the brand's absence rather than a gap in coverage.

Makemake Organics is GOTS certified under licence number IDFL 010673 issued by IDFL Laboratory and Institute, with both the products and the production facility certified organic, and this romper carries the identifier IDFL 26390 alongside its GOTS organic cotton fabric claim. OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 and Fair Trade are also asserted for the products, and independent write-ups of the brand restate the GOTS and OEKO-TEX credentials.

The romper is declared free of flame retardants, PFAS, formaldehyde, phthalates and azo dyes, and it is deliberately sold as daywear rather than sleepwear precisely because it carries no flame-retardant treatment. Nothing in the marketing offers easy-care, wrinkle-resistant, non-iron, stain-resistant or water-repellent performance, GOTS processing prohibits bleach and formaldehyde, and an independent write-up repeats the flame-retardant-free and PFAS-free position.

Care guidance is specific: machine wash on a gentle cycle, do not bleach, iron on cool, tumble dry on low and remove promptly, with mild plant-based detergent and wool dryer balls recommended instead of softeners. What it stops short of is any instruction to wash the romper before first wear, which is the step that removes residual sizing.

Fabric content, the certifier and the country of manufacture are all published — designed in Florida, sewn in a GOTS-certified factory in India. Independent write-ups repeat the Florida-design and India-manufacture split. The specific factory, the mill and the cotton supplier are not named, and there is no published warranty.

The baby sizes use nickel-free snaps, and the fabric is coloured and printed with azo-free, non-toxic, water-based dyes rather than a thick raised plastisol print. Lead content in the metal hardware is not addressed, and no children's product certificate or heavy-metal migration result is published for the snaps.
