Key Features

Certifications

    • GOTS Certified Organic

Certified by Global Organic Textile Standard

GOTS certification verifies that a textile product's organic fibre content and its full processing supply chain meet defined organic, environmental and social criteria.

    What it checks

    • Confirms fibres used are certified organic (e.g. cotton, wool, hemp, silk, linen)
    • Checks chemical inputs, wastewater treatment and environmental management during processing
    • Verifies human rights and social due-diligence criteria across the supply chain
    • Requires traceability, annual on-site audits and transaction-based checks at every processing stage

What it does not cover This certification addresses organic fibre content, processing chemicals and supply-chain conditions; it is not a general product safety, flammability, or choking-hazard test.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

    Read the official standard

    • Fair Trade Certified

Certified by Fair Trade USA / Fairtrade International

Fair Trade Certified verifies that a product's supply chain met third-party standards for farmer/worker treatment and trade practices, such as fair pricing and safe conditions.

    What it checks

    • Third-party certification of farmers, workers, and supply chains across 30+ product categories
    • Standards addressing fair pricing, wages, and working conditions for producers
    • Verification and traceability of certified supply chains through Fair Trade USA's programs

What it does not cover This certification addresses labor and trade practices in the supply chain; it does not test or certify the safety, quality, or materials of the finished product itself.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

88 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Safe-Sleep Design Compliance 76

This is a flat, stretchy knotted swaddle wrap with no weighting, hood, ties or cords, but no TOG rating is stated and neck and armhole geometry is not addressed, despite a detailed fabric composition.

Fiber Content & Origin 91

The set's fibre content is published as 97% organic cotton and 3% spandex (a closely related listing states 96%/4%), with GOTS certification named for the organic cotton used.

Textile Certification 95

GOTS certificate GOTS-26390 resolves in the GOTS certified-suppliers database for Modn Made LLC, doing business as Makemake Organics, certified by IDFL Laboratory and Institute and valid to 2027-09-17, with babies' apparel in organic cotton and organic cotton with elastane among its certified categories. It certifies the product category rather than naming this garment.

Recall History 97

We queried the complete CPSC recall database, 10,039 records spanning 1973–2026, and found no record naming this brand in any role. The query's controls confirm the product class is well covered, so the clean result reflects a genuinely clean history.

Certification Credibility 95

GOTS certificate GOTS-26390 (IDFL client number 010673) resolves in the GOTS certified-suppliers database for Modn Made LLC, doing business as Makemake Organics, certified by IDFL Laboratory and Institute and valid to 2027-09-17. The record covers the brand's operation and its babies' apparel, toys and accessories categories rather than naming this item.

Chemical Finish Avoidance 92

The cotton is not treated with flame retardants and it is free of flame retardants, PFAS, phthalates, formaldehyde and azo dyes. An independent article corroborates the brand's swaddle blankets as free of lead, phthalates and flame-retardants.

Transparency & Support 91

The brand publishes that this product is designed in Florida and manufactured in GOTS-certified factories in India, giving country of manufacture and facility certification together. No warranty or repair terms are published for this item.

Hardware & Print Safety 84

The set uses azo-free, non-toxic dyes for the car print, but no print method (screen print thickness, placement) or hardware details are given since the design has no snaps or fasteners described anywhere.
