Recycled Fabric Lunch Pack

This pack is a soft fabric carrier: no plate, bowl, cup or utensil is included or described, and the only material named is the 100% recycled PET shell fabric. No food-serving surface is identified for the pack at all, so the material question this criterion asks — solid wood, steel, glass or silicone versus melamine or bamboo composite — is left unanswered.

The penguin design, printed graphics and the metal zipper pull on this pack carry no lead, heavy-metal or dye-safety statement. Apple Park publishes this kind of detail elsewhere — phthalate-, lead- and heavy-metal-free rubber wood with water-based coatings, and azo-free low-impact dyes on its GOTS cotton — but neither statement is extended to the printed recycled-polyester packs or their hardware.

The shell polymer is named — 100% recycled PET from plastic bottles — but the surfaces food actually sits against are undisclosed: the interior lining and insulation layer are not identified, the chemistry of the water-resistant finish is not stated, and there is no bisphenol or phthalate statement of any kind for this pack. No migration or food-contact test method or result accompanies it.

The pack is sold on keeping soup warm and juice cold, yet no temperature limits, insulation performance or care rules accompany that claim, and there is no washing, dishwasher or dryer guidance for the recycled-polyester shell — the published care instructions cover only the organic layette, plush toys and wooden teethers.

Nothing is published about how this pack behaves over time: no wash or cleaning method for the recycled polyester shell, no fibre-shedding or degradation information, and no replacement guidance. We queried the full CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning 1973 to August 2026 — and found a single entry for Apple Park: a 2013 recall of children's loungewear for a federal flammability violation. That is a different product category from this lunch pack and more than a decade old, and no other recall, violation or hazard pattern is filed against the brand.

The named certifications Apple Park publishes — GOTS organic cotton, and ASTM F963 and EN71 testing — are attached to the plush toys, teethers and organic cotton lines, not to this recycled-PET lunch pack, which carries no certification or testing claim of its own. That leaves the evidence one product away from the item being scored.

The pack's shell is 100% recycled PET water-resistant fabric, and the products are designed in San Francisco and manufactured in China. No warranty term and no fabric supplier or factory name are published.
