OEKO-TEX STANDARD 100 certifies that every component of a textile item has been lab-tested and found free of harmful substances above set limits.

    What it checks

    • Testing of yarn, fabric, buttons, and other accessories against a list of over 1,000 regulated substances
    • Stricter chemical limits for products with more intensive skin contact, including a dedicated infant/toddler product class
    • Compliance with chemical regulations such as REACH, CPSIA, and the ECHA-SVHC candidate list
    • Annual review of substance limit values and one-year validity per certificate

What it does not cover It tests for chemical residues only and does not certify general product safety features like choking hazards, flammability, or mechanical construction.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

82 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Airway & Positioning Safety 78

The carrier is an open hip seat with no restraint, so the caregiver must keep one arm around the child in every carry; its instructions state this plainly. It is not a bag-style sling or cradle carry, and forward-facing-out is not marketed use for young infants, but it publishes no airway or positioning guidance and names no carrier safety standard, citing only unnamed American and European standards.

Safety Standard Compliance 76

Safety certification to unnamed American and European standards with reinforced safety features, but names no specific ASTM standard, CPC, or lab, and Target's own compliance data for this item lists no certifications.

Hip-Healthy Design 87

The seat holds the baby in the M-position with thighs supported and knees above bottom, which is a specific, checkable design claim, but no panel-width measurement or IHDI designation is published to verify it across carries, including the front-facing position sold from 4 months.

Carrier Textile Chemistry 87

The fabric is stated to be OEKO-TEX 100 certified, a specific, falsifiable claim, but it covers only the fabric and not the foam-padded seat that also touches the child, leaving part of the item's chemistry undisclosed.

Recall History 97

We queried the complete CPSC recall database covering over 10,000 records back to 1973 and found no recall filed against this brand in any role. The corpus is shown to cover comparable product classes, so the clean result reflects a clean history.

Structural Load Integrity 69

A review-corpus analysis finds 17% of negative reviews report strap fraying, separation or breaking and 7% report the seat bending, a corroborated pattern of hardware failure, though an independent test found no seat collapse under load and a 45 lb limit applies.

Textile & Foam Chemistry 84

The fabric is claimed OEKO-TEX 100 certified, but the foam seat padding disclosed in the materials list carries no certification such as CertiPUR-US or GREENGUARD, and no PFAS-free or flame-retardant-free declaration is made for either component.

Certification Credibility 84

The fabric is OEKO-TEX Standard 100 certified and the brand separately claims certification to unnamed American and European safety standards, but no certificate number, class, or test method is given for either claim.

Transparency & Support 84

The materials are named (100% polyurethane or polyester) and a 1-year warranty is stated covering manufacturer defects, but the warranty names no specific covered parts and no repair or spare-parts route is described anywhere.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Reviewers often highlight the storage pockets as a major benefit, letting them carry essentials like diapers, wipes, keys, and a phone without a separate bag.
A few customers mention the fabric showing pilling after a short period of use and washing.
Some customers feel the seat could be sturdier for babies who resist sitting in it, though most still find it useful overall.
Several customers say the carrier felt like a worthwhile investment despite an initial hesitation about the price.

My granddaughter likes Tush baby. She told me it is comfortable.

I was kinda hesitant to buy the Tushbaby hip carrier, because we already had two separate traditional carriers (one for my husband and one for myself/grandma to use). But my 20.5lbs 6 month old started becoming extra clingy and did not want to be put down alone. He is just too curious about everything we're doing and wants to be a part of the fun. But since he's gotten much heavier in the past couple months, I was considering this hip carrier. I polled my friends on social media and I got 7 different fellow parent friends reaching out and saying that this carrier is a must. One mom-friend said "Just f***ing do it" lol! So, I purchased the black & gold fabric one and it's been such a help! I no longer have the upper back and shoulder pain that I would have, after a day of carrying my baby around for hours. My mother, who helps us out with our son during the week, also loves it and uses it multiple times a day to do the daily house tours and afternoon walks. It's just such a great tool! Super easy to put on and take off and the seat is pretty sturdy, so even with my squirmy, kicky baby, I'm not too worried. I will say though, it is definitely not hands-free. I still use quite a bit of effort to make sure he's not launching himself off the seat because he's so active right now, but still about 75% less strength and effort than just holding baby without anything. And so much easier than putting him in the carrier, plus baby gets to sit toward you or away from you and watch all the action, without having to undo the carrier straps and move his direction. All in all, in the words of my aforementioned friend, just flipping do it!!!

Before having a baby, I had seen some people use the Tush baby but didn't understand how it could be useful when you still had to hold them. Boy, was I wrong! My baby sometimes just wanted to be held even if it was for a quick time. The Tush baby is sooo useful for running quick errands in a store and not having to set up a stroller! It's useful for if I want to do things around the house or take a quick walk outside and not lug the big stroller around with me. It does drag down a big from my baby's weight but I feel that's normal [it just doesn't show in the marketing pictures]. It definitely helps my back and I have already received comments on it from seasoned mothers wishing they had it when their babies were young. I will always recommend this as it's been so quick to put on and useful!!

This carrier is helpful for carrying my 18-month old while getting things done around the house in the evening. However, I’m not sure if it’s due to my smaller frame (5’2”, XS), but even when I tighten it as much as possible, the belt tends to slip downward and press into my lower abdomen when I’m carrying my baby, who weighs only 10. 5 kg. I’d wear it for a maximum of about 30 minutes.

To be quite honest, it’s not that comfortable to wear for more than like 30 minutes or so. Maybe that’s just me! My daughter likes it okay but prefers her carriers to it. I do love that they have an extension for the plus size women but I feel like I can never get it to be as tight as I want it to be (yes, I do all the things I’m supposed to!). I also, of course, love that I can put all my essentials in it and don’t have to carry a purse or anything.
