Basketball Hoop

The base must be weighted with 40 lbs of sand for stability and gives base diameter and adjustable height range, but names no standard and gives no test method for tip resistance or stability under active play.

CPSIA compliance is named by the brand only for play mats and select soft-play products, not for the Basketball Hoop, and no ASTM F963 or CPSIA claim appears anywhere for this item. Gathre is an identifiable, retail-distributed manufacturer, so non-publication here is ordinary rather than a red flag.

The hoop is described only as durable plastic; no material composition, flame-retardant status, or chemical-safety claim is published for it, unlike the brand's mats which carry PVC/phthalate/lead-free language. Nothing adjacent to this specific product addresses finish chemistry.

Age guidance is inconsistent across sources: 18 months to 5 years in one place and 3 to 8 years in its own FAQ and current product copy, while Target's retailer record lists 18 months and up. No small-parts warning is published for the included basketballs.

The brand recommends adult supervision and states an age range, but the range itself conflicts across the brand's own FAQ (3 to 8 years) and product details (18 months to 5 years), and no capacity or number-of-children guidance is given.

The hoop has a weighted, sturdy base and an adjustment mechanism that moves easily, and in buyers' experience it holds up to daily toddler play, though the only account naming a timeframe covers one week of ownership. Durability language stays generic ('built for everyday use') with no care method or material-wear detail.

We queried the full CPSC recall database (10,047 records, 1973-2026) for Gathre and found no recall in any role, at any date, with controls confirming toy and juvenile-product categories are covered by the corpus. The brand's record is clean.

No certification is named for the Basketball Hoop itself; the brand's CPSIA claim is scoped to play mats and soft-play products, and GREENGUARD Gold mentions found elsewhere apply to mats, not this hoop. No standard, test method or number is attached to this product.

The hoop is made in the USA but publishes no materials breakdown (plastic type, coatings) for this product, and offers only a general lifetime workmanship guarantee with no hoop-specific spare-parts or repair terms.
