Key Features

Certifications

  • GREENGUARD Gold

    Certified by UL Solutions

GREENGUARD Gold certifies that a product has been tested by UL Solutions and meets strict limits on chemical (VOC) emissions into indoor air.

    What it checks

    • Lab testing of chemical emissions against limits for more than 360 VOCs plus total chemical emissions
    • Meets stricter emission limits than standard GREENGUARD, intended for sensitive settings like nurseries and schools
    • Compliance with California Section 01350 chamber testing method for VOC emissions
    • Manufacturing process review and routine re-testing to confirm ongoing compliance

What it does not cover It measures air emissions from the product, not general product safety, physical/mechanical hazards, choking risk, or compliance with toy or baby-product safety regulations.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

  • FSC Certified

    Certified by Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification traces wood and paper-based materials in a product back through the supply chain to forests managed under FSC's standards.

    What it checks

    • Chain of custody tracking of wood/fibre from certified forests through manufacturing
    • Forest management practices checked against FSC standards (100%, Recycled, or Mix sourcing labels)
    • Auditing of certificate holders and monitoring of forest management organizations
    • Traceability tools such as blockchain-based tracking of certified material

What it does not cover This label addresses forest sourcing and traceability of wood/paper materials; it does not test or certify the safety, chemical content, or performance of a finished product.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

89 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Glide & Recline Mechanism Guarding 84

The recline mechanism is described only as 'hidden,' with no detail on pinch-point guarding, floor-level accessibility, or any lock-out for an occupied recline, and no manual or teardown evidence closes that gap.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 92

GREENGUARD Gold certification is asserted for the finished Devon glider, tested for over 10,000 chemicals and VOCs, and the foam is separately CertiPUR-US certified against formaldehyde and other emissions.

Upholstery Flammability & FR Chemistry 92

The seat foam is stated to meet CA TB117-2013 flammability requirements and is CertiPUR-US certified free of PBDE and Tris flame retardants, giving both the compliance and the FR-chemistry half the criterion asks for.

Recall History 93

We queried the complete CPSC recall database (10,002 records, 1973-2026) directly for Namesake and found no recall filed against the brand in any role. A control search confirms the corpus covers comparable nursery categories, so the clean result is meaningful.

Upholstery Textile Chemistry 87

The Devon's own eco-performance cover fabric is water and stain repellent with no PFAS-free statement; the PFAS-free claim and detailed cushion fibre breakdown we found apply to the Crawford glider, a sibling product, not this one.

Certification Credibility 92

The Devon glider is asserted as GREENGUARD Gold Certified, CertiPUR-US certified foam, and FSC certified wood frame, all named for this finished product, though no certificate or licence number is published for this specific model.

Transparency & Support 91

The chair's country of manufacture (China) and a concrete 1-year manufacturing-defect warranty with stated exclusions are published, and a spare-parts replacement route is offered for damaged or missing pieces.

Material Disclosure Depth 84

A cushion fibre and foam breakdown by percentage is published for the sibling Crawford glider's cushions, but the Devon listing itself gives no layer-by-layer disclosure of its own frame, adhesives or fire barrier.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers frequently describe the recliner as very comfortable and say it exceeded their expectations for both comfort and looks.
Several reviewers highlight the fabric as soft yet durable and note it fits well with their nursery decor.
One shorter reviewer mentions their feet hang over the footrest, suggesting the chair may not suit all heights.

This swivel glider is perfect for our nursery. My wife loves the color and the recliner is really comfortable.

My son’s family enjoy the comfort of the glider every night! And it looks beautiful in the baby room! Highly recommend!

We’ve been using the Devon Recliner and Swivel Glider for a few weeks now, and it has truly exceeded our expectations. From the moment it arrived, it was clear that this piece was thoughtfully designed with both comfort and aesthetics in mind. The fabric is soft yet durable, and the warm, neutral tone blends beautifully with our nursery’s decor. What sets this chair apart is its smooth gliding and swiveling motion—it’s incredibly quiet, which is a huge bonus during late-night feedings. The reclining feature is easy to operate with one hand, and it provides excellent back and neck support. It’s been a lifesaver during those long nights with our newborn. I also appreciate how supportive yet plush the cushioning is—it strikes the perfect balance between cozy and firm, which is ideal for extended use. Another big plus is that the design doesn’t scream “nursery chair.” It has a modern, clean look that will transition well to another room in the house once we no longer need it in the nursery. It feels like an investment piece that we’ll be able to use for years. We’ve already recommended the Devon Recliner to several expecting friends. If you’re looking for a glider that’s both stylish and practical, I can’t recommend this one enough. The craftsmanship and attention to detail really shine through, and it’s clear that Namesake put a lot of thought into what parents actually need.
Donovan C.
I’ve had this recliner for more than six months and deeply regret this purchase. We refreshed our living room furniture in the winter, and I wanted a recliner. My wife doesn’t like the look of most recliners, but she liked this one. I’m a very short man (5’4), and my feet hang over the footrest. The claim that this is heirloom quality is almost laughable. The fabric pills, the arm rests are uncomfortable, and it’s certainly not water resistant. The included pillow looses it shape very quickly. This might be fine for a sitting room that is barely used, but this is not worth the price if you’re looking for something to have in your living room. I do not recommend this chair.
