Key Features

Certifications

  • GREENGUARD Gold

    Certified by UL Solutions

GREENGUARD Gold certifies that a product has been tested by UL Solutions and meets strict limits on chemical (VOC) emissions into indoor air.

    What it checks

    • Lab testing of chemical emissions against limits for more than 360 VOCs plus total chemical emissions
    • Meets stricter emission limits than standard GREENGUARD, intended for sensitive settings like nurseries and schools
    • Compliance with California Section 01350 chamber testing method for VOC emissions
    • Manufacturing process review and routine re-testing to confirm ongoing compliance

What it does not cover It measures air emissions from the product, not general product safety, physical/mechanical hazards, choking risk, or compliance with toy or baby-product safety regulations.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

90 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Frame Material & Adhesive 91

This crib is made of 100% solid New Zealand pine. The brand separately discloses that some panels across its furniture line use CARB II-compliant MDF, without stating whether that applies to this model.

Finish Type 84

The finish is described only as a non-toxic multi-step staining and painting process with low VOCs; the underlying chemistry (water-based versus solvent-based) is never named, and no method or test result backs the low-VOC claim beyond the separate GREENGUARD certification.

Sleep-Product Compliance 91

The crib is built to ASTM F1169 and 16 CFR 1219, with slats spaced under 2 3/8 inches and a mattress support tested to 135 lbs against an 80 lb minimum, and uses static sides rather than a drop-side design.

Recall History 97

We queried the complete CPSC recall database (10,002 records, 1973-2026) for Namesake and found no recall filed against the brand in any role. A control search confirms the database covers cribs generally, so this clean result reflects the brand's actual record.

Structural Standard Compliance 92

The crib is built to ASTM F1169 with slats spaced to a maximum of 2 3/8 inches, mattress-support hardware tested to 135 lbs against an 80 lb requirement, and metal inserts with lock washers and self-locking nuts rather than wood screws; static sides replace any drop-side design.

Certification Credibility 93

A retailer's own compliance data lists a resolvable FSC licence code (N003885) for this crib line, and a third-party chemical-safety review independently confirmed the solid pine construction underlying the brand's material claims.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 92

This crib is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, tested for over 10,000 chemical emissions and VOCs to meet stringent indoor air quality requirements. No certificate number is published, but the claim is specific and made for this exact finished product.

Wood Sourcing (FSC) 85

The brand names New Zealand pine as an expanding, sustainably produced forest resource for its cribs, but no FSC certification or licence code is published — the resolvable FSC code we found is tied to a different Namesake crib listing.

Transparency & Support 91

The brand publishes concrete warranty terms - one year, repair or replace at its option, with stated exclusions - and operates a spare-parts request process requiring model and serial number. The country of manufacture (China) is disclosed.

Material Disclosure Depth 85

The brand discloses panel-level composition (CARB II-compliant MDF with wood veneer for some panels) and paint chemistry (formaldehyde- and lead-safe), but does not state which panels on this specific crib use engineered wood versus solid pine.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers who like the crib often mention it feels sturdy, well made from real wood, and looks timeless in the nursery.

This crib is perfect. Not only is it made from real wood, making the price an excellent value, but the color is rich and gives our daughter’s nursery a timeless look. It was also very easy to assemble. I’m extremely happy with this purchase, and I know it will last for years and be used for future little ones as well.

This crib is both simple and beautiful. The materials and construction are high quality and I love how it looks in our space. Assembly was pretty straight forward too!

Product arrived with many broken parts. Splintered wood pieces, nails that split the wood railings, and a large dowel used to secure the main part of the frame that was made of rotten wood and had come apart prior to its arrival. I only removed two items from the box before stopping. This crib is completely unusable and unsafe. I can’t believe that rotten wood dowels were used in the construction of this product. Shipping doesn’t appear to be the cause of the damage due to the good condition of the box. We’re disappointed knowing that our baby is due in two weeks, but we have a bassinet, and will be okay for awhile. FYI, customer support is all chat bots with no phone numbers.
