Fibre composition is published exactly — 97% cotton with 3% spandex in a 310 GSM ribbed knit — with organic status attributed to a named certifier and licence, IDFL Laboratory and Institute under GOTS licence IDFL 010673, and provenance stated: cotton grown and garments made in India, designed in Florida. General brand copy elsewhere calls the clothing 100% organic cotton, which does not match the 3% spandex in this style.

The romper closes with a named 2-way YKK zipper rather than snaps or buttons, has a diaper gusset and is tagless, so there are no small detachable fasteners, appliqués or neck ties in the design. What is not published is any attachment or seam evidence: no flat-seam or reinforcement specification, and no small-parts or use-and-abuse test result for the zipper and pull.

The romper is crafted with AZO-free, non-toxic dyes and printed with water-based dyes, and AZO dyes are among the substances declared absent; the base fabric is cotton rather than a synthetic, so disperse dyes are not in play. GOTS licensing at IDFL 010673 covers dye chemistry through processing, and independent coverage repeats the AZO-free, eco-friendly dye claim.

GOTS covers the products themselves, not only the fibre: the brand is licensed under IDFL 010673 through IDFL Laboratory and Institute, its products and facility are certified organic and carry the Organic Certification label, and this romper is responsibly manufactured in a GOTS certified facility. We queried the complete CPSC recall corpus — 9,944 records spanning June 1973 to August 2026 — and Makemake Organics appears nowhere in it, in any role, at any date. The same corpus returns hundreds of records for other children's product classes, so the clean result reflects the brand's absence rather than a query that missed.

Makemake Organics holds GOTS licence number IDFL 010673, with IDFL Laboratory and Institute named as the independent third-party certifier of both the products and the facility; this romper carries its own IDFL reference alongside Fair Trade and STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX claims, and independent write-ups of the brand repeat the GOTS licensing and the OEKO-TEX certification. The OEKO-TEX claim sits at brand level, without a product class or certificate number.

The romper is free of PFAS, formaldehyde, flame retardants, phthalates and AZO dyes, and the rompers are untreated by flame retardants — which is why they are sold as daywear rather than sleepwear. Nothing in the marketing or care guidance offers easy-care, wrinkle-free, non-iron, stain- or water-repellent performance; the care guide asks for a cool iron. Independent coverage repeats the freedom from PFAS and flame retardants.

Care guidance for this romper is thorough and matches the garment: machine wash on gentle, do not bleach, iron on cool, tumble dry on low and remove promptly, with mild plant-based detergent and wool dryer balls suggested instead of fabric softener. There is no instruction anywhere to wash the romper before first wear, which is the one thing missing from an otherwise complete care section.
