Key Features

Certifications

  • GREENGUARD Gold

    Certified by UL Solutions

GREENGUARD Gold certifies that a product has been tested by UL Solutions and meets strict limits on chemical (VOC) emissions into indoor air.

    What it checks

    • Lab testing of chemical emissions against limits for more than 360 VOCs plus total chemical emissions
    • Meets stricter emission limits than standard GREENGUARD, intended for sensitive settings like nurseries and schools
    • Compliance with California Section 01350 chamber testing method for VOC emissions
    • Manufacturing process review and routine re-testing to confirm ongoing compliance

What it does not cover It measures air emissions from the product, not general product safety, physical/mechanical hazards, choking risk, or compliance with toy or baby-product safety regulations.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

  • FSC Certified

    Certified by Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification traces wood and paper-based materials in a product back through the supply chain to forests managed under FSC's standards.

    What it checks

    • Chain of custody tracking of wood/fibre from certified forests through manufacturing
    • Forest management practices checked against FSC standards (100%, Recycled, or Mix sourcing labels)
    • Auditing of certificate holders and monitoring of forest management organizations
    • Traceability tools such as blockchain-based tracking of certified material

What it does not cover This label addresses forest sourcing and traceability of wood/paper materials; it does not test or certify the safety, chemical content, or performance of a finished product.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

91 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Frame Material & Adhesive 87

The Palma's frame is solid New Zealand pine, but its feature headboard is made from TSCA-compliant engineered wood rather than solid wood, and where MDF is used it uses only CARB II compliant materials without naming the adhesive system itself.

Finish Type 90

The Palma is finished in a non-toxic, multi-step painting and staining process that is lead- and phthalate-safe, exceeding ASTM and CPSC standards, and a third-party source separately describes Babyletto's finish as water-based. The Palma's own page does not itself name the finish as water-based.

Sleep-Product Compliance 91

The applicable full-size crib standards are named — ASTM F1169 and 16 CFR 1219 — with slat spacing and a 135 lb slat-strength figure exceeding the 80 lb minimum, and third-party CPSC-certified lab testing for ASTM compliance is stated. No certificate number for this specific model is published.

Recall History 92

We checked the CPSC registry and found one open Babyletto recall, covering the Kiwi Electronic Recliner Glider (an overheating USB port) — a different product line entirely from this crib. That record does not cover the Palma, and the brand otherwise publishes a dedicated safety commitment page.

Structural Standard Compliance 91

Slat spacing and strength are specified — a maximum 2 3/8" gap and slats rated to withstand 135 lbs, well above the 80 lb minimum — built to ASTM F1169 and 16 CFR 1219. No drop-side design is present and no hardware-loosening pattern appears in this crib's own review corpus.

Certification Credibility 93

An independent lab tested a sibling Babyletto crib and verified its GREENGUARD Gold emissions claim directly rather than just repeating it, and the Palma itself carries the same certification and the JPMA/ASTM claims are named on other models. No certificate number is published for the Palma itself.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 93

The Palma is GREENGUARD Gold certified, tested for over 10,000 chemicals, for indoor air quality. An independent lab reviewed a sibling crib sharing the same New Zealand pine construction and confirmed the emissions testing behind that same certification scored above average for eco-health.

Wood Sourcing (FSC) 91

The Palma is FSC certified and built from sustainably sourced solid New Zealand pine wood, with the sourcing region named directly. No FSC licence code is published for verification.

Transparency & Support 92

The Palma's country of origin is named as Vietnam on its own page, alongside concrete warranty terms — one year against manufacturing defects — and a replacement-parts programme available after purchase. No certificate, audit or independent artifact accompanies these disclosures.

Material Disclosure Depth 91

The frame is built from solid New Zealand pine wood, while the feature headboard uses TSCA-compliant engineered wood, and formaldehyde levels test undetectable across its furniture. The specific breakdown between solid and engineered components is not itemized per part.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Several reviewers describe the crib as well-made and sturdy, with straightforward assembly.
A few reviewers mention manufacturing or assembly defects, such as misaligned screws, gaps between wood pieces, or a broken leg.

Great quality & worth the price. Straightforward to put together.
Lindsay G.
Great quality, solid construction, does take a little moving to get screw joints aligned and one just wouldn't go in but was one of three.

This crib is the best looking crib out there. we love the color and style of the crib and fits into our nursery perfectly. Super easy to assemble and felt pretty sturdy for the baby. Would definitely recommend!

I received this crib as a gift off my registry. My baby has barely used it 5 months and the leg broke off. It looks as if it was glued on. I'm not sure if I go a lemon or what but now the company is refusing to send a new crib. A replacement part I'm afraid won't work if the crib is defective. You'd think a crib this price would last more than 5 months. Very disappointed in this company. Save your money and buy a cheaper crib that's more sturdy. This company is horrible as they don't care about their customers. My baby is now sleeping in a pack and play until this gets figured out.
Bri
We purchased this crib and matching dresser in natural walnut. The crib pieces are really beautiful in the box. However, The wood finish scratches so easily, with a brush of your fingernail the soft wood scratches and the finish comes right off- same issue with the dresser. Not all of the screws were ‘catching’ so we had to order a $30 replacement hardware kit. FYI you can’t use one of the universal hardware kits, this brand uses diff size bolts and hardware than all of the other major crib brands. We reached out to order the hardware and had to dig up serial number and proof of purchase to even get cust service to place the hardware order, you can’t just order it yourself. It was a baby shower gift so we had to get the proof of purchase from a fam member. 8 weeks later we received everything and have it put together. Overall the quality is shockingly poor for a crib in this price range. And the ordering process was the icing on the cake. Will never purchase from this company again.
