CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

85 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Food-Contact Material Safety 78

The wrapper is the surface that meets this bar until it's eaten, and no wrapper material, liner composition, or migration data is published for it anywhere in the brand's materials.

Heavy-Metal Testing & Disclosure 69

An independent lab test of this bar, reported in October 2024, found 42 ppb cadmium, 10 ppb lead and 6 ppb arsenic, with mercury not detected; cadmium and lead were above the action levels proposed in the 2021 Baby Food Safety Act. No recall or regulator action followed. Packs shipped to California also carry a Proposition 65 warning for lead.

Added Sugar & Nutrition Honesty 91

0 g added sugar: the bar is sweetened only with organic dates, and this flavor is not one of the few that contain under 1 g of maple syrup or coconut sugar. The Nutrition Facts list 9 g total sugar.

Allergen & Cross-Contact Disclosure 91

The bar declares peanuts per FALCPA, and the brand specifically discloses it is not a nut-free facility, names which allergens share its production lines, and details its allergen cleaning process between runs.

Heat & Wear Behavior 84

The bar carries a 12-month shelf life from production and a printed best-by date, with pantry storage recommended, but no stated storage temperature range or heat-exposure guidance is published anywhere we found.

Ingredient & Sourcing Transparency 92

The full ingredient list is published: organic dates, organic peanut butter, organic cocoa powder and Himalayan pink salt. USDA Organic certification through Oregon Tilth is named for the finished bar.

Recall History 97

No recall naming Skout Organic appears in the FDA food recall and enforcement database, which covers reports from June 2012 to October 2026, and the same search does return other snack-bar recalls, so this is a clean record rather than a missed search.

Certification Credibility 92

The finished bar is Certified Organic by Oregon Tilth, Certified Vegan by Vegan.org and Certified Gluten-Free by GFCO, each named for the product with its certifier, though no certificate numbers are published.

Transparency & Support 84

Common catalog ingredients and a defect-replacement process tied to a best-by date are disclosed, but no country-of-manufacture, no formal warranty terms, and no repair or spare-parts route relevant to a consumable product are published.

Age & Choking Suitability 91

Suitable, under adult supervision, for children over one who eat solid foods; the bars are about 60-70% dates, which keeps them soft and easy to chew. The peanut is in the bar as peanut butter, not as pieces.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers frequently describe the chocolate peanut butter flavor as tasting like a brownie or dessert, with kids often mistaking it for a treat rather than a healthy snack.
Many reviewers say their kids and even adults consider this their favorite flavor, praising the balance of chocolate and peanut butter and the clean ingredient list.
Several customers mention the bars are convenient for on-the-go snacking and a good portion size for toddlers.
Some customers say the bar could be softer, with a couple noting it is tougher or harder to chew than other flavors.
A few reviewers mention the chocolate peanut butter bars appear smaller than other flavors in variety packs, noting the size seems to have shrunk over time.
A small number of reviewers find the chocolate flavor underwhelming or bland compared to expectations.

Yummy and just the right size for a snack on the go!

Such wonderful organic ingredients! My kids love these so much!!
Danae T.
These are my son’s favorite snack! So good and love the clean ingredients.
Mackenzie O.
I would rather pay for an increase in the size of the original bar than having it reduced in size.
Robert N.
I took advantage of the July 4 promo and got a box of each flavor. My 3 year old loves these bars and I feel completely guilt free giving them to him since they are whole food and organic. However, once opening them the first time and seeing how small these bars are I thought “this is a $1.16 regular price?!” (Per 1 bar) it’s probably half the size of a Larabar and not near as thick. It has been a great snack for my little boy but I won’t be purchasing at regular price.
