Key Features

Certifications

    • GREENGUARD Gold

    Certified by UL Solutions

GREENGUARD Gold certifies that a product has been tested by UL Solutions and meets strict limits on chemical (VOC) emissions into indoor air.

    What it checks

    • Lab testing of chemical emissions against limits for more than 360 VOCs plus total chemical emissions
    • Meets stricter emission limits than standard GREENGUARD, intended for sensitive settings like nurseries and schools
    • Compliance with California Section 01350 chamber testing method for VOC emissions
    • Manufacturing process review and routine re-testing to confirm ongoing compliance

What it does not cover It measures air emissions from the product, not general product safety, physical/mechanical hazards, choking risk, or compliance with toy or baby-product safety regulations.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

    Read the official standard

    • FSC Certified

    Certified by Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification traces wood and paper-based materials in a product back through the supply chain to forests managed under FSC's standards.

    What it checks

    • Chain of custody tracking of wood/fibre from certified forests through manufacturing
    • Forest management practices checked against FSC standards (100%, Recycled, or Mix sourcing labels)
    • Auditing of certificate holders and monitoring of forest management organizations
    • Traceability tools such as blockchain-based tracking of certified material

What it does not cover This label addresses forest sourcing and traceability of wood/paper materials; it does not test or certify the safety, chemical content, or performance of a finished product.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

90 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Frame Material & Adhesive 87

The wood species and panel construction we found — solid New Zealand pine with some CARB II compliant MDF panels and wood veneers — are independently verified for a sibling Namesake crib built the same way, not for this specific crib. The brand names the same wood and panel approach on its own materials page.

Finish Type 85

The finish is a non-toxic, low-VOC, formaldehyde- and lead-safe multi-step painting and staining process, but the chemistry itself (water-based versus another low-VOC system) is never named.

Sleep-Product Compliance 93

An independent guide confirms federal CPSC crib standards govern this product class and lists a Namesake crib among cribs required to meet them; the brand separately names 16 CFR 1219 and ASTM F1169 and describes third-party CPSC-certified lab testing with quarterly retesting of full-size crib models.

Recall History 93

We queried the CPSC recall database's full corpus (10,002 records, 1973-2026) with a control confirming crib-class coverage, and found no recall filed against this brand at any date, in any role.

Structural Standard Compliance 91

The crib is built to ASTM F1169 and 16 CFR 1219, with slats spaced a maximum of 2⅜ inches apart and rated to withstand at least 135 pounds, exceeding the required 80-pound minimum, and metal inserts with lock washers and self-locking nuts replace plain wood screws.

Certification Credibility 93

The crib's FSC certification carries a resolvable licence code (N003885) shown on a retailer's own compliance listing, and GREENGUARD Gold is independently confirmed as attached to this specific SKU on that same listing.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 94

GREENGUARD Gold certification is confirmed in the retailer's own compliance data for the Liberty crib, and an independent chemical-testing review reports the paint on a Namesake crib tests at under 10ppm for lead and well below CPSC/ASTM surface-coating thresholds.

Wood Sourcing (FSC) 87

A resolvable FSC licence code (N003885) and sustainability claim about the New Zealand pine sourcing region appear on a sibling crib's retailer listing and the brand's own materials page, not tied specifically to this crib.

Transparency & Support 93

An outside reviewer obtained and published the country of manufacture (Thailand) for this crib line, a fact the brand's own materials page does not state; the brand separately publishes concrete 1-year repair/replace warranty terms and a working spare-parts request channel.

Material Disclosure Depth 85

The primary wood species (New Zealand pine) and a secondary CARB II compliant MDF/veneer panel material are named, but exactly which components use engineered wood versus solid wood is not itemized anywhere, and an independent comparison notes this gap directly.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers describe the crib as beautifully made, noting the scallop and spindle details and its sturdy feel.
A reviewer describes assembly problems including misplaced screw holes and a defective item, along with easy scratching and a wood finish that looked painted rather than genuinely stained.

I looked for months and months at everything. This crib spoke to me. I absolutely love it. Quality is great, shipping was fast, and smooth assembly.
Aliya
This crib is exactly what I was looking for for my baby girl's nursery! The scallop details are so precious and the spindle details add the right level of *whimsy* to the room which is exactly what I was going for. I've gotten so many compliments on it already. It's very sturdy and you can tell it will last for many many years and I'll be able to use for any future babies down the road.
Alyssa J.
Incredibly difficult to assemble. The screw holes on the legs were in the wrong place, item arrived defective. Scratches way too easily, it already has multiple scratches on it just from unboxing and assembly. Wood tone appears painted on and is not a genuinely stained piece of wood. Definitely not worth it for the price.
