CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

86 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Airway & Positioning Safety 85

Forward-facing carry is tied to head and neck control rather than a fixed minimum age in the own documentation, with a 4-month general suitability note elsewhere; the carrier is not itself a bag-style sling and supports facing-in, facing-out and back carries.

Safety Standard Compliance 89

Miamily's January 2019 safety statement for the HIPSTER Essential, under this product's SKU HIPO0831B, says it complies with ASTM F2236 and CPSIA 2014, EN 71-3, GB 35270-2017 and EN 13209-2:2005, but the brand's current 2022 guidance for the same carrier no longer repeats it, and no certificate or test report is published.

Hip-Healthy Design 87

M-position hip support with an IHDI approval claim is stated for the carrier line, and the frog-leg rationale is explained, but at the time of an independent review no infant insert existed to extend hip-healthy positioning to the newborn stage, an exception to the seal's coverage.

Carrier Textile Chemistry 78

The HIPSTER Essential is listed as 100% polyester fabric with plastic buckles and a polypropylene seat, but no textile certification and no PFAS, azo-dye, formaldehyde or flame-retardant information is published for its fabric or padding.

Recall History 97

We queried the complete CPSC recall database (10,000+ records, 1973-2026) for this brand and found nothing filed against it in any role. The search corpus demonstrably covers carriers and comparable juvenile products, confirming the clean result is real, not a blind spot.

Structural Load Integrity 85

A weight limit of up to 20kg (44 lbs) to age four is stated for this carrier, with plastic buckles and a PP plastic L-seat named as hardware; an independent reviewer recorded a somewhat lower 40 lb limit, a minor inconsistency, and no load-test method or result is given.

Textile & Foam Chemistry 78

No flame-retardant-free or PFAS-free declaration and no textile chemistry certificate is published for the HIPSTER Essential; Miamily names its materials, 100% polyester fabric, plastic buckles and a polypropylene seat, but says nothing about their chemistry.

Certification Credibility 89

Miamily's 2019 safety statement for the HIPSTER Essential names ASTM F2236, CPSIA 2014, EN 71-3 and EN 13209-2:2005, but the brand's current guidance for the carrier no longer carries it, and no certificate number, lab or registry entry is published.

Transparency & Support 91

The materials (100% polyester fabric, plastic buckles, PP plastic L-seat), country of design (Switzerland) and assembly (China), and a concrete 2-year warranty covering manufacturing defects are all published, along with a replacement-parts route for components like the buckle.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Customers consistently describe the hip seat as a game changer for relieving back pain and pressure while babywearing.
Many reviewers say their babies settle comfortably and even fall asleep in the carrier.
Reviewers frequently describe the carrier fabric as soft and breathable.
A customer mentioned accidentally ordering the larger size instead of the newborn option and chose to keep it rather than exchange it.
One reviewer did not like the infant insert accessory, though it still worked for supporting their baby safely.
Several customers consider the carrier a good value at its price point compared to other carriers they have tried.

I love this carrier! Great quality, actually supports my back and my babies have loved being in it. I like the storage that it has and how easy it is to adjust. I take mine everywhere!
Alma G.
I've tried a few carriers already and nothing beats this hip seat carrier. It takes a lot of load off your back when you baby wear. My LO is 99% percentile for weight, a total chonkster, and this carrier has helped so much with relieving pressure off my back.
Tianying H.
Comfortable for my 1.5 year old toddler. We got this since our little man hates stroller and this carrier is awesome n
