Holle Biodynamic Baby Food Pouches (12 pack)

Holle publishes California AB 899 batch results for its pouches, with tested lead, arsenic, mercury and cadmium well under EU limits. Against that stands a February 2022 New York Attorney General action: testing of 18 Holle pouches found one or more heavy metals in every sample, at levels within EU standards, contradicting the brand's claims that its pouches were free of heavy metals, which it was ordered to remove.

Holle states its pouches are BPA free, but its FAQ answers a question about BPS only for BPA, so BPS and BPF are not addressed, and no test method or result backs the claim.

The pouch is labeled for babies 6 months and up as a fruit and veggie puree snack, not marketed as a formula or complete meal replacement, with the age recommendation stated directly on the product.

The pouch page states a 14-month shelf life and that an opened pouch keeps for 2 days in the fridge, but gives no storage temperature for unopened pouches.

Holle USA appears nowhere in the CPSC recall database, 10,039 records from 1973 to 2026, but that database does not cover food. The food regulator record shows one recall by the brand: in December 2014 Holle Baby Food GmbH recalled five millet and 3-grain porridges sold in Europe and Hong Kong after atropine was found above the EU limit. That recall did not cover this pouch.

The pouch page says to serve the puree with a spoon for younger children, to keep the screw cap out of their reach and to use an opened pouch within 2 days in the fridge, but says nothing about warming the puree or about not returning a used spoon to the pouch.

The pouch page states that its ingredients are USDA Organic, non-GMO and Demeter-certified biodynamic, but no certifier or certificate number is published for this pouch.

The pouch page lists every ingredient, states it is produced in Italy and gives a 14-month shelf life, but Holle does not name the farms or regions its fruit and vegetables come from. Warranty and repair routes do not apply to a consumable food.

The pouch lists every ingredient by name - organic pear, apple, spinach and lemon juice concentrate (0.1%) - with no added salt or refined sugar, and states USDA Organic and Demeter biodynamic certification for the finished product. Country of production (Italy) is also disclosed.

Holle states the pouch is BPA free, but names no laminate or spout material and publishes no migration testing for bisphenols or phthalates.
