Poi
What's included
Poi is a Stage 1 purée made from pounded kalo, the taro root traditionally used to make this Hawaiian staple, offered as a gentle first food for babies starting solids.
The purée is a single ingredient, smooth in texture, and easy on baby's belly. It is naturally rich in fiber, with more than you'd find in a potato, and delivers iron and calcium to help build strong bones and teeth. A small amount of lemon juice concentrate is added, giving the poi a brighter, tangier finish than babies may be used to.
The kalo is sourced from Kākoʻo ʻŌiwi, a community organization restoring the loʻi kalo (taro terraces) of Heʻeia, Oʻahu, with each pouch supporting their work to revive Native Hawaiian farming traditions.
