Key Features

Certifications

  • GREENGUARD Gold

    Certified by UL Solutions

GREENGUARD Gold certifies that a product has been tested by UL Solutions and meets strict limits on chemical (VOC) emissions into indoor air.

    What it checks

    • Lab testing of chemical emissions against limits for more than 360 VOCs plus total chemical emissions
    • Meets stricter emission limits than standard GREENGUARD, intended for sensitive settings like nurseries and schools
    • Compliance with California Section 01350 chamber testing method for VOC emissions
    • Manufacturing process review and routine re-testing to confirm ongoing compliance

What it does not cover It measures air emissions from the product, not general product safety, physical/mechanical hazards, choking risk, or compliance with toy or baby-product safety regulations.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

  • FSC Certified

    Certified by Forest Stewardship Council

FSC certification traces wood and paper-based materials in a product back through the supply chain to forests managed under FSC's standards.

    What it checks

    • Chain of custody tracking of wood/fibre from certified forests through manufacturing
    • Forest management practices checked against FSC standards (100%, Recycled, or Mix sourcing labels)
    • Auditing of certificate holders and monitoring of forest management organizations
    • Traceability tools such as blockchain-based tracking of certified material

What it does not cover This label addresses forest sourcing and traceability of wood/paper materials; it does not test or certify the safety, chemical content, or performance of a finished product.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

92 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Frame Material & Adhesive 91

The frame and spindles are stated to be 100% sustainably sourced solid New Zealand pine, and formaldehyde levels across its furniture are undetectable. Where MDF is used elsewhere in the line it is disclosed as CARB II compliant, though that clause is not tied specifically to this crib.

Finish Type 93

An independent retailer review of the same crib platform states it uses a non-toxic water-based finish, and the finish is lead- and phthalate-safe with formaldehyde levels undetectable, though the finished-product listing itself does not name the chemistry as water-based.

Sleep-Product Compliance 91

The applicable federal standard for full-size cribs, 16 CFR 1219 alongside ASTM F1169, is named, and products are sent to a third-party CPSC-certified lab for compliance testing. No published CPC specific to this model is available.

Recall History 92

The one CPSC recall on file for this brand covers the Kiwi Electronic Recliner glider, a different product line entirely, not this crib. The brand publishes a safety and quality commitment page, and nothing in the registry touches the Swell crib line.

Structural Standard Compliance 91

The brand names ASTM F1169 as the standard its full-size cribs are built to, and specifies slats rated to withstand at least 135 lbs against an 80 lb minimum requirement, with slats spaced a maximum of 2 3/8 inches apart. No JPMA or accredited-lab certificate number is shown for this specific model.

Certification Credibility 92

The crib is named GREENGUARD Gold and FSC certified for the finished product, and an independent lab (BabyGearLab) tested the sibling Hudson crib on the same platform and confirmed above-average eco-health results, with a retailer separately carrying the GREENGUARD claim in its own listing.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 93

An independent lab tested the sibling crib built on the same New Zealand pine platform and verified emissions passing more than 10,000 chemical tests to earn GREENGUARD Gold, and this crib's own listing states it is screened for harmful chemicals to meet the same certification.

Wood Sourcing (FSC) 91

The wood is named as FSC-certified New Zealand pine sourced from sustainable forests, stated directly on this crib's own listing. No FSC licence code is published for verification.

Transparency & Support 93

A retailer support page discloses the country of manufacture (Taiwan and China) that the brand does not state, and a one-year manufacturing-defect warranty with repair or replacement is published on a dedicated brand warranty page alongside a spare-parts and repair route for owners.

Material Disclosure Depth 87

The frame and spindles are named as 100% solid New Zealand pine, but a component-level breakdown covering adhesives, hardware and any additional layers for this specific crib is not published; the MDF-and-CARB-II disclosure appears only at the brand level, not tied to this model.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Many customers describe the crib as high quality and attractive, and several say assembly was straightforward.
Some reviewers report assembly problems, including pieces that did not fit together well and a mattress support missing a spring.
A few reviewers mention the wood cracking or scratching easily during assembly or use.

I bought this crib for my granddaughter. The quality is great and it was simple to put together. Her rooms looks beautiful. 💓😍
Rosa V.
Beautiful crib with amazing quality in the materials. It was easy to assemble and we absolutely loved the color (natural walnut).
Sam s. G.
Overall it’s a cute crib and we love the color. Assembly had its difficulties with some pieces not wanting to quite fit together. Our mattress support was missing spring which was strange and some pieces were a little dinged up. Hoping the conversions won’t be as stressful as the initial assembly.
Ariel F.
The driver left the box at the end of the driveway and hit the fence!!
Kerry
This is the absolute worst quality and rip off for the price. While we were installing the mattress support, the wood cracked while LOOSELY tightening a bolt. And please believe all the warnings of it scratching easily. We are seeing if Target will take this back. I am 100% not trusting my child to sleep in something of this poor quality. It’s a shame because it was aesthetically what we were looking for. I will be staying away from Babyletto.
