Key Features

Certifications

  • GREENGUARD Gold

    Certified by UL Solutions

GREENGUARD Gold certifies that a product has been tested by UL Solutions and meets strict limits on chemical (VOC) emissions into indoor air.

    What it checks

    • Lab testing of chemical emissions against limits for more than 360 VOCs plus total chemical emissions
    • Meets stricter emission limits than standard GREENGUARD, intended for sensitive settings like nurseries and schools
    • Compliance with California Section 01350 chamber testing method for VOC emissions
    • Manufacturing process review and routine re-testing to confirm ongoing compliance

What it does not cover It measures air emissions from the product, not general product safety, physical/mechanical hazards, choking risk, or compliance with toy or baby-product safety regulations.

This certification is held by the brand or manufacturer, not by Birch. We show it because the brand states it for this product. Summarised from the certifying body's own page.

CURATEIQ

TrustScore breakdown

85 /100

We take what's most important for a product to determine the TrustScore. Here's our research:

Frame Material & Adhesive 78

The Winston is a metal-frame crib, and its own page states only 'premium steel with a durable powder coated finish' — no wood species, engineered-wood content, or adhesive system is named for this model, unlike the brand's solid-pine crib line.

Finish Type 84

The crib page describes a non-toxic, lead- and phthalate-safe painting process for the powder-coated steel finish, but does not state whether the coating chemistry is water-based, low-VOC or zero-VOC, nor cite a test method.

Sleep-Product Compliance 79

The applicable federal crib standard and ASTM method are named at the brand level and structural specs (slat spacing, mattress-support strength) are published, but no CPC or lab report is published for this specific mini crib model, and the standard cited elsewhere for full-size cribs may not be the one that applies to this mini variant.

Recall History 97

We queried the CPSC recall database (10,002 records, 1973–2026, with crib/stroller/toy controls confirming category coverage) and found no recall filed against this brand in any role, at any date.

Structural Standard Compliance 91

Slats are built to a maximum 2⅜" spacing and the mattress support withstands at least 135 lbs against an 80 lb minimum, hardware uses metal inserts with lock washers and self-locking nuts, and the crib has fixed static sides with no drop-side design.

Certification Credibility 91

The wood used across the crib line is named as CARB II compliant MDF and 100% wood veneers, and finished product testing is sent to a third-party CPSC-certified lab to confirm ASTM compliance, though the lab name and report number are not published for this model.

Emissions & Off-Gassing 92

The Winston is GREENGUARD Gold Certified, tested for over 10,000 chemical emissions and VOCs including formaldehyde and phthalates.

Wood Sourcing (FSC) 78

The Winston is a steel-frame crib and its own page names no wood component or FSC claim; the FSC-certified wood claims on file are tied to the brand's solid-pine crib line, not to this model.

Transparency & Support 91

We publish the country of manufacture (Vietnam) and model numbers, and the brand honors a 1-year repair-or-replace warranty with named exclusions plus a replacement-parts request process requiring model/serial number and proof of purchase.

Material Disclosure Depth 84

The Winston's own page names premium steel with a powder-coated finish and traditional metal casting at the joints, but does not disclose adhesives, any internal composite panels, or a fire barrier — the component-level detail published for the sibling wood cribs is not given here.

Customer Stories

Sentiment Summary

Reviewers mention the crib holds up well over time, still looking new after extended use.
A few reviewers felt the toddler and twin bed conversion did not match what they expected based on the product description.

We ordered this for our grandchild as we are awaiting her arrival. My daughter and her husband are staying with us as they are mitigating a mold issue recently discovered. We wanted something to put in the guest room with Mom and Dad where they feel safe and secure. This piece is stunningly beautiful.

This is such a gorgeous crib and looks great in my son’s room. He has loved it and it is so durable that it still looks like new after a year and a half of use. My only complaint (and this is more my fault for not reading into it enough) is that when it said it converted to a toddler bed and twin bed, I thought that meant everything was included in the original purchase price. Now I am about to get a c section for my second child and won’t be able to pick my son up out of the crib so I have to order new parts to convert it to a twin or toddler bed.
Emma M.
I love this crib so much. It looks absolutely stunning in our daughter’s nursery. It is great quality and I love that it can be converted to a toddler bed and then eventually a full size bed.

Have been very happy using the gold mini crib since my daughter was born 2 years ago. Quality materials and aesthetic, but disappointed that she’s already to the point of outgrowing it. Not sure what 3-5 year old can fit in the day bed as the website claims (or why they would even make such a claim) but it doesn’t seem like you’d actually get much use out of that option. Something to keep in mind if you were as excited about the multi-use options as I was. For reference my daughter is an average height at 35 inches and her feet dangle out of the crib.
