Maternity & Postpartum Essentials

Pregnancy and the weeks after birth bring big changes, and the right essentials make each stage more comfortable. During pregnancy, organic belly butters and oils help soothe dry, stretching skin, while soft maternity robes and loungewear keep you comfortable at home and in hospital.

For the fourth trimester, our postpartum recovery products, including mesh and recovery underwear and organic perineal balm and spray, support healing in the first weeks. The Earth Mama Postpartum Bundle brings several of these together at a saving. If you're breastfeeding or pumping, a supportive nursing pillow and a hands-free pumping bra make feeds easier, and you'll find pumps, milk storage and nipple care in our breastfeeding collection. For hands-free closeness once you're up and about, browse our baby carriers and wraps.

Getting ready for the big day? Our hospital bag checklist and feeding setup checklist cover what to prepare, the week-by-week pregnancy tracker follows your baby's growth, and our registry builder makes it easy to add everything you need.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should I pack in my hospital bag for postpartum recovery?

Pack a few pairs of postpartum or mesh underwear, maternity pads, a perineal spray or balm, a nursing bra, nipple cream, a comfortable robe and a loose going-home outfit. Our hospital bag checklist covers everything for you and your baby.

How can I soothe perineal soreness after birth?

Many new mothers find relief with cold packs, a peri bottle of warm water after using the toilet, sitz baths, and a soothing perineal spray or balm. Rest as much as you can. Contact your doctor or midwife if pain gets worse or you notice fever, heavy bleeding or an unusual smell, as these can be signs of infection.

Do I need a nursing pillow?

A nursing pillow isn't essential, but it raises your baby to breast height, which can ease strain on your back, shoulders and arms and help with latching. Many parents also use one for bottle feeding. Never let your baby sleep on or propped against a nursing pillow; move them to a safe, flat sleep space.

When should I buy a nursing bra?

Many mothers buy their first nursing bra in the last few weeks of pregnancy, around 36 weeks, when breast size has mostly settled. Your size can change again once your milk comes in, so stretchy, wire-free styles are a good first choice.

What is a hands-free pumping bra?

A hands-free pumping bra holds your breast pump flanges in place so you can pump without holding them, leaving your hands free to rest, eat or work. Many styles, like the Kindred Bravely Sublime, double as an everyday nursing bra.

Does belly butter prevent stretch marks?

There's no strong evidence that any cream or oil can prevent stretch marks, which are largely influenced by genetics and how quickly skin stretches. A rich belly butter or oil can still ease the dryness and itching many people feel as their bump grows. If you have questions about specific ingredients during pregnancy, check with your healthcare provider.

Is it safe to use skincare products during pregnancy?

Most gentle, fragrance-free moisturisers are considered safe during pregnancy, but some ingredients, such as retinoids, are generally avoided. Choose products with fully disclosed ingredients and ask your doctor or midwife if you're unsure.

Do you offer free shipping and returns on maternity products?

Yes. Every order ships free with hassle-free returns, and first-time customers get 10% off at checkout, up to a maximum discount of $75. See our shipping and returns pages for details. Check your policy on opened intimate items such as underwear and bras, and update this answer if they're excluded from returns.
